The Truth About Fast Fashion

Lifestyle

Today I decided to write about ethical issues in the Fashion Industry. Not enough is said for most individuals that are involved in Fashion. I want to teach some knowledge I have gained to my viewers/followers.

As we proceed into the future, we start to realize how the fashion industry affects the world itself. Β Most of us do not seem to pay attention to where our clothes come from, how its made, the practicum, and most importantly the facts.

As a future designer/merchandiser, I don’t want to just design to design. I want it to have a purpose, and my purpose is to change the Future of Fashion for the better. I will not go into debt with what my plans are for the future. You will all have to wait and see when it is time. Anyone can do anything, but its up to you how your willing to take make it better than others. There is always competition in the world with everything, just make the best out of it. As long as your happy with your work/self, that is what matters.

Now this topic is for people to view things differently in fashion at least a bit, because not everyone has the time to learn about unethical/ethical issues in the industry.

We all love to shop, be in style, keep up with trends, and evolve in Fashion.

Here are the one important issue everyone should be aware, regardless if you aren’t a future fashionista, but as a individual to make better decisions when it comes to fashion.

  1. Fast Fashion

Revolves around a lot of cheap labor stores such as Top-Shop, Forever21, Zara, H&M, Express, etc. to sell items at a much affordable price that are dupes from high end designers.

Cycle.png

As for most of us in the world, we cannot afford to buy unique/luxurious, designer wear. For instance, we buy what we can afford or what is best for our budgets. It makes it a very difficult situation to solve. Fast fashion allows individuals to own similar looks, to still be on top of the trends. Often times, most fast fashion stores as I mention make the clothing much faster and change pieces seasonally more often than top designers and companies. The process allows designers to showcase their collections during fashion week, and once the stores sees the looks on the runway, they mimic a similar look to be sold at a much more affordable price within days as opposed to the the designers’ official collection release. Β However, due to the “intellectual property law” no suing or change can be made due to the fashion cycle changing so quickly, fashion is evolutionary, fashion modifies existing styles; allows difficult process to file a copyright, and the garment itself cannot be protected. This ties down to counterfeit, a product that bears a label or distinct copyrighted design feature of another designer/brand without having paid licensing fees or permission of trademark.

As a individual/fashion lover will you continue to support fast fashion? Why or Why not? Can it be solved, were fast fashion no longer exists? How so?

Theres more to Fast Fashion, in which corresponds to Sweatshops.. stay tune on the next post.

Hi everyone πŸ’•

My first design everrr is this dressπŸ‘—

Let me tell you it took me so long to do this dress because I did it with bearly knowing how to sew. This was one of my first ever projects from Apparel Construction I at Mesa College. I have been practicing and let me tell you the sleeves were the hardest.

My 7 year old sister is modeling the dress I made 🌻 she is tall; so the dress is shorter on her for her size. I still love it, and so does she.πŸ˜‡πŸ˜

Dress includes Collar, Gathered Sleeves, Ties, and cord. βœ‚οΈ

Class of 2017πŸŽ“ Associates Degree πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸŽ“πŸ’

Lifestyle

I MADE IT!!!!

Class of 2017!!

I am Proud to say I am now a college graduate. This doesn’t mean Its over, it means it keeps going.

I am 19 years old. I did it in 2 years..

when I graduated high school, I knew right away I wanted to go to college. I was 18 When I started college, and Now i’ll be 20 in July 2017..

I always wanted to study Fashion Design, so here I came to San Diego Mesa College. A college that I was able to get grants and scholarships to help me with my education. I always wanted to aim higher then just a Associates Degree, so here I am still going.

I had some ups and downs, theres times I felt like I wanted to give up, πŸ˜ͺ but I didn’t! I keept strong! I swear to yall, this was not easy. I took a bit risks, I give it all in, I tried so hard to get my grades going and learn so much! I love school, I love learning new things. My passion is for FASHION.

My hardest semester ever had to be Spring 2017.. Why? Because sewing and pattern making was new to me. I never been taught until now.. but it was worth everything. Its very enjoyable πŸ’– Its what I LOVE! Never thought sewing and pattern making would be so difficult, but my professor A.M believed in me, and she knew I tried my very best.. All my professors have encoraged me and have told me I am going to make it far in life just like my communication professor from Spring 2016. I took so many units at once, because I believe I can do it! Working Full time and being a Full time student was very tough, but I did it! If you believe it, you can do it!

Now, that I graduated from San Diego Mesa College.. I will be moving to the Beach! Not just a Beach.. 🌊 butttt LONG BEACH!!!

Did I Mention I got Accepted to California State University of Long Beach!!!!βœ¨πŸŽ“πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

God, The life creator, everything. Has always helped me believe everythings possible. Whenever I thought I was gonna losse it all, God was there to tell me that it’s not over because you fail the quiz or because you didn’t get a perfect score.

Thank You to my parents, always supporting me and telling me how Amazing i’m doing.. I am first Generation Graduate from my family. My parents never had the money for school, never were they able to finish high school because there hometown was a poor place.. I had the opportunity to show them that I want to dream big.. with all the support it has make me believe a lot more.. I can’t wait to show my parents/family what more I can accomplis..πŸ’•β€πŸ’–πŸŽ€πŸ“šβœ‚οΈ I love my familyπŸ‘¨πŸ»πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘¦πŸ»πŸ‘ΆπŸ»

Life is about taking risks.. I remember the Hardest course class for my generel ed had to be Humanities.. Why? Because it’s a lot of information.. I remember i didnt do so well in the midterm.. I was scared to fail. I thought of Withdrawing the class.. but my friends, family, and GOD believed I can do it. So, I took a big risk because chances were I could of failed.. and guess what in the Final I got a B!! I ended up getting a C. It wasn’t what I wanted, but it was seriosly the hardest ever.. maybe because I took it in Winter session which was 4 week course..I set standards and goals to accomplish and get what I want..

So, since Im trasnfering, I didnt get my A.A degree in Fashion Design because I wanted to go straight for my Bachelors.. but I still earned a Associates Degree in Liberal Arts of Social Science Behavior ✨ I am still happy with that because I was able to trasnfer with some degree. Afterall, I am a designer βœ‚οΈ

I plan to get my Masters Degree in Fashion Design after my Bachelors degree..πŸ’βœ¨πŸ˜‡πŸ‘‘

Life has been crazy, buttt I love it.. I love busy, I love life, I’m excited for what the future holds for meπŸŒπŸŒπŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ’βš‘οΈ

I want to inspire to aspire and motivate everyone out there.. never ever everrr give up in dreams.. dream big, dream bright, everything is possible in this world. I swear, only you can do that change..πŸ“š everything is worth it.. make goals, every goal out there because does goals lead to a big goal.. its amazing how life is beauitful, make it your way πŸ’–πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’

Here I am now, In August 28, 2017 I start CSULB.. while i’m learning and getting prepare for my Bachelor’s, I will have my business running meanwhile as I grow.. I know I’ll be the greatest eveeer! I plan so much, it’s all suprise, so wait on it✨

My designs will come very soon near youβœ‚οΈ
